Yes, the Bible is a good literary piece. In fact, it’s translated by many scholars and being studied in college as a literary work. However, nowadays, reading the Bible isn’t complicated as it seems. The New Living Translation (NLT) is the easiest version to understand because it uses modern English. Here are a few tips on how you read the Bible as a beginner: 

  1. Choose a Bible version that’s understandable and easy to read like the King James Version and the New Living Translation 
  2. You don’t have to read in order. You may start reading the new testament, The Gospel of John which is riveting and very informative being the closest apostle of Christ. 
  3. Pick one book and read one chapter at a time. 
  4. Take notes or annotate your learnings and their implications for your life. 
  5. Start small. Do not rush reading the entire content. Allot time reading the Bible.

Many considered the Bible a historical book, a collection of texts written millions of years ago. Many scholars and historians would claim that there are loopholes in the books that don’t coincide with some real-life events. However, whether the Bible is accurate or not from a historical point of view, its good intention makes it a perfect book. Yes, the Bible is filled with errors and mistakes, just like any other ancient writings, but that doesn’t concern many of its readers because authors are not perfect, and the Bible doesn’t contradict itself, it’s how people interpret the Bible that makes it inconsistent.

What is the best version of the Bible? 

The King James Version is said to be the best version of the Bible. It was the authorized version being translated via the Antioch manuscript text line. However, if you want a more readable, and clear version, you may want to consider the New International Version (NIV). However, it has a lot of paraphrases that are easier to read and don’t require much concentration to understand the content.
